Jay and Catherine--Winter 1997-98

Some Pictures

Jay's 15th birthday was January 7. His "big" present was this Toyota RAV4. He took driver's training during the fall. After several months driving with Mom or Dad, he began driving to school SOLO. Next year he will be returning to public school after having spent his freshman year at Bishop Kelley (the regional Catholic HS) There are not any Advanced Placement courses at Bishop Kelley which is important to Jay.jaycar2.jpg - 34.7 K
cathbbal.jpg - 10.2 KCatherine played basketball for her 6th grade team at Adams. She tried out for and made the AAU team for 6th graders in our region. The AAU season began in early January. When the season ending tournament was concluded in early March, her team was undefeated. An article about the team's season and team photo was on the first page of the Sports Section of the Idaho Statesman (a copy will be scanned and included here at some later date)
Jay continued his double bass playing this year. He played for the Boise District Junior High Honor Orchestra (all students in region may audition) as well as the Bishop Kelley ensemble--which was not a formal class but extra-curricular. Also, he took a taxi every day 1st semester from East Junior HS 1st period Orchestra class to Bishop Kelley 2nd period. During the summer, Jay tested out of the freshman computer course which gave him a free 1st period.

The tuxedo photo was taken at the annual Bishop Kelley fundraising auction dinner. The BK ensemble provided the evening's music.

Jay's birthday came too late for 1st semester!
cathroom.jpg - 73.2 KCatherine has decorated and re-decorated her room several times this year. It was a very big relief for all of us when she moved back into her room last year. When the JDMS became active again this past fall, we caught it early and treatments this winter have held it in check without the debilitating weakness Catherine experienced last year when the condition was finally diagnosed.

Catherine has a computer in her room which is used for homework and some of her many creations. For Mother's Day 1998, she made a multimedia story for Margaret.

For reasons that should now be obvious, Jay knew to the day (and hour) how long it was until his birthday this year. He took his drivers liscense exam the next day.jaybday.jpg - 27.7 K
