John is among Idaho's foremost trial attorneys. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Idaho in 1970, and received his J.D. degree from the University of Washington where he was an editorial staff member of the Law Review.
John is a member of the Boise Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Idaho State Bar, the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. John has been at the forefront of environmental coverage dispute litigation since Congress enacted the Superfund legislation in 1980. He has extensive trial experience, including over two hundred jury trials, and is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has successfully argued numerous appellate cases dealing with insurance issues at both the state and federal levels.
John is an avid hunter, fly fisherman and
river runner, and is active in local real estate development and zoning
issues.
Maurie was graduated from the Arizona State University College of Law in 1975. He also received a degree in political science from Arizona State University in 1972. Maurie is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. His practice includes a concentration in governmental and administrative law, natural resource, land use, and environmental law, and a general civil practice with a focus on estate planning.
Maurie brings a wealth of public service experience to the firm. He served as the Prosecuting Attorney for Blaine County, Idaho from 1976 to 1979. He was also the U.S. Attorney for the District of Idaho from 1985 to 1993, and Associate Solicitor for the U.S. Department of the Interior from 1981 to 1985. Maurie has served as a member of the Law Enforcement Coordination Subcommittee (1981-1985), the Budget Subcommittee (1985-1991), the White Collar Crime Subcommittee (1991-1993), the Indian Affairs Subcommittee (1993) and the Law Enforcement Coordination Subcommittee (1985-1993) of the U.S. Attorney General's Advisory Committee. He has also been a member of the U.S. Attorney General's Economic Crime Council, the Idaho U.S. District Court Civil Justice Reform Act Committee, and the National District Attorney's Association. He is currently a member of the Idaho State Bar and the National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys.
Maurie was born in Globe, Arizona, in 1948,
and has called Idaho home since 1962. He and his wife, Julie, a member of
the Idaho State
Legislature, are active in Republican Party politics. Maurie enjoys
reading and following current events.
Loren graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1972, and received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 1975. He has authored articles for the Idaho Law Review, Taxation for Lawyers, and Taxation for Accountants, and was a co-author of Idaho Practical Probate. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Taxation Section), the Idaho State Bar (Taxation, Probate and Trust Section),the Boise Bar Association, and the Boise Estate Planning Council. Loren is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and served as its State Chairman from 1987 to 1992.
Loren is admitted to practice before the U.S.
Tax Court, the U.S. District Court for
the District of Idaho, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as
the Idaho state courts. He concentrates his practice in the fields of
estate planning, probate, tax, and pensions, with extensive experience in ERISA
cases. He also has significant experience in environmental, contract and
personal injury cases.
Mark received both an M.B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Arizona in 1984. He completed his undergraduate study at California State University at Long Beach. Mark is licensed in both Arizona and Idaho, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Claims Court, the United States Tax Court, and the United States District Court, as well as the Supreme Courts of Arizona and Idaho. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Business and Contract Law Sections, Forum Committee on the Construction Industry), the Idaho State Bar (Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Sections), the Boise Bar Association, the Arizona State Bar Association, the Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Concentrating in commercial litigation and secured transactions, Mark directs the provision of services to First Security Bank. His practice also involves bankruptcy litigation, construction law, and contracts. He has lectured at the First Security Bank of Idaho Management Training Program and the Annual Meeting of the Idaho Association of General Contractors.
Mark was born in Long Beach, California, in
1954, and moved to Idaho 1984. He is an avid skier and contents himself
at the golf course between ski seasons.
Tom concentrates his practice in all areas of civil litigation, including the defense of insurance companies and their insureds, insurance coverage questions, and appellate practice.
Tom grew up in Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan in 1973. He spent his pre-law days in government service with the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the Peace Corps. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1986, and began his legal career as a law clerk of the Honorable Robert E. Bakes at the Idaho Supreme Court in 1986. He has since gained extensive trial and appellate court experience and is an enthusiastic advocate of alternative dispute resolution. He is admitted to practice in Idaho's state and federal courts as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is member of the Defense Research Institute, the Idaho Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and the Idaho State Bar's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.
Tom is an accomplished mountain climber and
the author of Idaho: A Climbing Guide, a hiking and mountain climbing
guidebook, and numerous articles on mountain climbing and the outdoors.
Mike has an extensive background in the insurance industry, having worked in the Property and Casualty Claim departments of Liberty Mutual Group and CIGNA, including in the First Party Fire and Property Loss Units; with the Primary and Excess Liability Claim Departments of American International Group; in the Risk Management Department of First National Supermarkets; and as the Claim Administrator for the Town of Harrison, New York. He is a 1980 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and a 1989 graduate of Pace University School of Law. He was admitted to practice in New York in 1989, after which he continued his work in the insurance industry and worked for an insurance defense law firm.
Mike and his family moved to Idaho in 1993,
where he is admitted to practice before both state and federal
courts. Prior to joining Howard Ellsworth Ipsen & Perry, Mike
worked with the law firm of Quane, Smith, Howard & Hull in Boise,
Idaho. Mike plays city league basketball and softball, but spends
most of his free time coaching youth hockey, baseball and soccer.
Tom obtained his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1981, after earning a B.S. from Boise State University in 1978. He has been admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Idaho, and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1984.
His practice focuses on commercial litigation and workers' compensation. Tom was chairman of the Systems Analysis Committee of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Idaho State Bar from 1990 to 1992. He has lectured extensively throughout Idaho on workers' compensation issues.
Tom is a member of the Board of Trustees for
the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and is President of Idaho Working
Partners.
Mike earned a B.S. from Boise State University in 1986, and received his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1990. He is admitted to practice before the United States Claims Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, as well as the Idaho state courts. He is a member of the Boise and American (Securities Section) Bar Associations, and the Idaho State Bar. He is also a charter member of the American Inns of Court, No. 130. Mike has extensive experience in business law, real estate, construction, banking, family law, and general litigation.
Mike was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania in
1956. He and his wife, Chris, enjoy riding and training event
horses and competing in combined training competitions across the
west.
Trevor is a 1998 graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School, and is admitted to practice before state and federal courts in Idaho and Nevada. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese from Brigham Young University in 1993, where he was a member of the nationally recognized BYU Men's Chorus and Concert Choir. He has also held certificates in Utah and Washington.
Trevor is a member of the American Bar Association (Business Law and Law Practice Management Sections) and the Idaho State Bar. His practice includes a concentration on real estate transactions, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and landlord/tenant disputes. Additionally, his responsibilities include managing the firm's computer network, Internet presence, document automation system, and year 2000 assessment and compliance plan.
Born in Manhattan, Kansas in 1967, Trevor was
raised in Boise, Idaho and returned to
practice here upon completing his legal education. He is married to
the former Bonnie Harris, and the two have four children.
Randall Probasco joined the firm in May of
2000. Since then, he has gained experience working on cases involving a
diverse array of civil practice areas including administrative law, secured
transactions, corporate, collection, lien foreclosures, quiet title actions,
insurance defense, medical malpractice, personal injury and real property
disputes focusing on restrictive covenants and zoning issues. He has also
drafted several articles for the firm's newsletter, "Idaho Liability &
Insurance Law Update."
Mr. Probasco is admitted to practice law in
both Idaho and Washington. He was admitted to practice law before Idaho
state courts and the Federal District Court for the District of Idaho in April
2000. He was subsequently admitted to the Washington Bar in November
2000. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Business Law,
Dispute Resolution, and Young Lawyers Sections), the Idaho State Bar (Young
Lawyers Section), and the Washington State Bar.
Randall received his
Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law in December 1999.
While attending law school, he was on the Dean's List (Fall 1998 &
Spring 1999) and was the recipient of the Felton Family Scholarship Fund
(1998-99). He was also active in Law Students for Alternative Dispute
Resolution, and was the Vice President of the Christian Legal Society
(1998-99). He also attended numerous seminars outside of the usual law
school curriculum, including Negotiation for Business and Contracts, Basic
Negotiation Training, and Advanced Negotiation Training.
Randall was
born and raised in Idaho. He received his undergraduate degrees from the
College of Southern Idaho and Boise State University. Prior to law
school and his legal career, he had five years of business management
experience. During his free time, Randall enjoys outdoor activities with
his wife, Debra, including skiing, hiking, photography and scuba
diving.
