A ZEN MOMENT

There's Mrs. Madigan
standing like a pink flamingo;
legs stork straight, summer robe,
blued hair, in her front yard.
She bends from her waist
to pull weeds -
oblivious to rush hour worker's
cars whizzing by.
Her face calm,
deep brown eyes survey the yard
like a nurse evaluates her patient.
Sometimes she even encourages
her plants with a word or two.
"Morning Mrs. Madigan".
